Kualoa’s new dinner show presents a unique Oahu experience, telling stories that most locals probably don’t even know about.
The performers of The Legends of Kualoa, through hula and chant, tells four Hawaiian legends that relate to the locale, Kualoa. The show was produced by Kualoa Ranch and Mamolii Productions. The four stories include that of Kahekili, Laamaikahiki, Kamapuaa and Kuilioloa and the battle of Hiiaka and Mokolii.
“Legends of Kualoa gives guests the opportunity to learn about true Hawaii through tours and hula kahiko, an ancient style of hula,” says John Morgan, Kualoa Ranch president, in a release.
The chants and hula drew a solemn response from the mostly visitor crowd. They didn’t seem to mind though, as the the audience had been forewarned that there would be no Tahitian fire dancers. To change the pace and get the audience involved, the show’s performers demonstrated how to play Hawaiian games, before going out and interacting with the audience.
The Legends of Kualoa adds to a roster of attractions, like the filmed-in-Hawaii movie sites tour or ATV tours, that can entertain visitors and residents alike.
The dinner show is available on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Kamaaina rate is $39 per adult and $29 per child (rack rates are $49/adult and $39/adult). The dinner show can be combined with other activities on the ranch at a discounted rate.
The dinner buffet includes prime rib, fish with lemon caper butter sauce, grilled island chicken, and sides and desserts. Vegetarian selections are available.
For reservations, call 808-237-7321 or visit www.kualoa.com.
