Then APEC 2011 has something for you. APEC, as most people know by now, stands for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, and in November it will bring top leaders from 21 different Asia Pacific economies to Honolulu for a aeries of meetings involving top level government and business leaders. The event will culminate with a “leaders’ summit” Nov. 12-13 hosted by President Barack Obama.

There won’t be many opportunities to get in front of the top leaders directly. But the crowds of officials, business representatives, news media and others could be ripe for the picking.

To sort all this out, the Hawaii APEC host committee, working with the various chambers of commerce on all islands, has set up a competition to showcase the best of the best. Up to 35 winners, as well as one top overall winner, will be awarded “Recognitions of Excellence” and will be given particular opportunities to showcase themselves at various APEC venues as well as in special media opportunities.
